WHAT IS A FLAT?
An Album Flat is a two sided PROMOTIONAL poster(some are one sided). These were printed by the record label to promote an album's release. This is NOT a record or a CD. Flats were designed when albums started being replaced by cassettes and CD's. Not selling albums made it next to impossible to build the promotional displays, so the record labels came up with, "Album Flats". These are Album sleeve sized posters, printed on thick stock, measure approx 12" x 12", and have wonderful colors and graphics, as well as great details. These were printed for PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY and were NOT FOR SALE. Most of these don't survive after the initial release of the album. There were not many made and even fewer made it into the hands of the general public.
