Description

A wonderful antique
1920's jeweler's custom jewelry salesman samples mold/setting/form from an old jewelry manufacturer.
This setting features a BRACELET which measures 7" long x 1" wide x 3" deep. This bracelet is set with blue and yellow rhinestones. This auction includes the BRACELET only, but see my other auctions for the other pieces featured in pics #2 and #3.
So, here is the history of these settings/molds as told to me, many, many years ago:
These molds are from the early 1900s and were used in a custom jewelry manufacturing environment to make "custom" jewelry. The manufacturer had these forms made up so they could "custom design" jewelry for a store/customer, who could design their own piece of jewelry with their preferred color combinations. The metal numbers attached to the mold depict the different areas where the customers could choose their own stone colors. (However, this particular piece does not have numbers, like some of the other pieces.) These molds were used to do a "mock up" to show the store/customer what their creation would look like, before the piece was actually made.
These are all salesman sample jewelry models soldered on 12 gauge heavy duty brass wires with lead solder. They have no movement and are solid. This allowed for the salesman to keep the rhinestone jewelry samples in shape as they were easy to move and easy to get tangled in the tray/sample case. These are not finished pieces and are not polished or rhodium plated and some final stones were never set. They are a bare skeleton showing design structures and solder points. They are all handcrafted samples. The stones are all Austrian Swarovski lead crystals. Vintage Swarovski Crystals contain lead. The use of lead in crystals was banned sometimes in the 1990's due to health regulations and laws. The stones are in excellent condition.
This collection is great for costume jewelry exhibitions, private museums, bloggers, YouTube or's, collectors, book authors, or simply a serious collector for a one-of-a-kind unique collection.
I have collected antiques for 30+ years, and these are the first custom jewelry molds I had ever seen....so I bought them all! Very unique pieces! I have had them for many, many years! But now downsizing. I date these from 1900 to 1920. Manufacturer unknown!
Feel free to ask questions....or if anyone knows more about these pieces, would love to hear their story!
